Saturday, April 30/Sunday, May 1

Now that was a nice treat.  I finally dragged my lazy carcass to the gym on Friday, and to my pleasant surprise found out that the cost of membership has actually gotten cheaper.  Yep, starting in June the cost of a monthly membership will drop to $30 from the current $42.  I think this is due to increased competition.  A large upscale gym, LA Fitness, just opened about five miles away.  It’s even closer to Ultimate Fitness’s Patchogue branch.  My guess is that Ultimate Fitness management is worried about losing members to the newcomer and has decided to compete on price.  LA Fitness’s site has no pricing information – which does not surprise me in the least – but it’s a safe bet that it’s on the high side for gyms.

In any event, on Saturday I did 30 minutes on the stationary cycle at 18.6 mph, and then did a bench press session: 6 x 136, 6 x 155, 6 x 185, 6 x 205, 4 x 225, 6 x 225.  On Sunday I did 20 minutes on the cycle at about the same speed, and then did T-bar rows (not the chest-supported one): 8 x 100, 8 x 110, 8 x 120, 8 x 130.
