Saturday, September 1 – Monday, September 3

Okay.  It’s completely my fault that I went to the gym only once on this long weekend.  I was a good boy on Saturday, doing another session in my new routine.  Standing barbell press: 4 x 8 x 110.  As I noted last time, the power clean that’s necessary to get the barbell into position is itself a pretty good exercise.  Next time I’ll do a couple sets of just power cleans in addition to those that are part of the barbell presses.  Bench press: 6 x 135, 6 x 185, 3 x 6 x 225, 10 x 135.  Skull crushers: 4 x 8 x 80.

I was a bit too worn out to go on Sunday, but I figured it didn’t matter because I had Monday off for Labor Day and could have a nice long session then.  What I didn’t realize until too late is that the gym closed at noon on Monday.   Of course even if I came to that realization early Monday morning it wouldn’t have mattered, as I’m definitely not the morning exercise type.  Far from it.
