Saturday, February 7 – Sunday, February 8

Another weekend spent working at the Major Home Improvement Retailer,  though not as much work as usual. On Saturday I worked only four hours, noon to 4, though Sunday was a full shift,  11:30 to 8. One thing about the MHIR is that the seasons are accelerated well beyond what the calendar would indicate.  Fall displays going up in July,  Christmas stuff arriving in early October,  and now spring/summer displays going up when it’s still cold and snowy. I’m well aware of this because I spent most of both shifts moving out current seasonal displays (mostly storage and cleaning products) to make way for patio sets and grills. I know, there are solid reasons for starting early, but it seemed weird when there was a constant flow of customers looking for rock salt.  “Sorry, we’re sold out … would you like a hammock instead? “
